INFINITI vs Lexus

INFINITI Q50 vs Lexus IS250

INFINITI vs Lexus - Compare Luxury Cars

Both INFINITI and Lexus entered the luxury car market in 1989 and have been going head-to-head ever since. Their rivalry resembles that of the Hatfields vs. the McCoys, and for many there is no clear winner.

At Sawgrass INFINITI in Tamarac, Florida our goal is to help you choose the car or SUV that fits your lifestyle and your budget. We'll do everything we can to share with you the thrills, savings, and long-term benefits of owning an INFINITI car or SUV. When you visit us for a test drive, be sure to ask your salesperson any question you may have. They are happy to assist you.

If you aren't sure which brand is best, we're here to help you decide. Let's take a look at one classic battle between two popular models. It's INFINITI vs. Lexus.

INFINITI Q50 vs Lexus IS250 - The INFINITI Wins

Taking a quick look at the specs for each vehicle, you can easily see that you'll get a larger engine in the INFINITI Q50 that produces much more horsepower and greater fuel economy when compared to the Lexus IS 250. In addition to its breathtaking performance, the weight of the engine has been reduced to increase the responsiveness of the world's first Direct Active Steering technology.

When it comes to safety, the 2014 INFINITI Q50 is an award winner. It was named a finalist for the 2014 World Car of the Year. It earned a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS when equipped with optional Forward Emergency Braking. And, it received the highest safety rating from the NHTSA.

Starting at $37,150 MSRP, the INFINITI Q50 offers excellent performance and value. Specs for the INFINITI Q50 base model:

  • Engine: 3.7-liter V6
  • Drive Type: Front-Wheel Drive with Available All-Wheel Drive
  • Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 26/32 mpg
  • Horsepower: 328 hp @ 7,000 rpm
  • Torque: 269 ft-lbs @ 5,200 rpm
  • Transmission: 7-Speed Electronically Controlled Automatic

The all-new 2014 Lexus IS features a redesigned front suspension and driver-selected performance driving modes. If you like the bold design direction they've taken with the front bumper, then you'll also like the aggressive styling of the new rear.

However, if you are looking for better performance, you'll have to jump up to the F Sport four-wheel-drive model which adds a minimum of $5,660 to the price tag. If you are willing to pay for it, you'll be rewarded with optimum sport handling and styling along with an exclusive digital instrument cluster that was inspired by the LFA supercar.

Starts at $36,100 MSRP Specs for the Lexus IS 250 base model:

  • Engine: 2.5-liter V6
  • Drive Type: Rear-Wheel Drive
  • Fuel Economy (city/hwy): 21/30 mpg
  • Horsepower: 204 hp @ 6,400 rpm
  • Torque: 185 ft-lbs @ 4,800 rpm
  • Transmission: 6-Speed Automatic with Paddle Shifters

INFINITI's Recommitment to Excellence

Even after evaluating these models head-to-head, some car shoppers may not be convinced that INFINITI offers the best overall value. To get a better understanding of the car maker matchup, it may help to take a look at where the brand is headed.

In 2013, INFINITI president Johan de Nysschen declared that he wanted to "disturb the status quo of the premium segment." Essentially, he re-committed INFINITI to improve quality and build a more desirable brand. His initiative includes three components: improving performance on more than 100 processes inside assembly plants, extending quality controls beyond the assembly line all the way to dealer lots, and enhancing the skill and pride of workers.

Even if you are still on the fence about whether INFINITI or Lexus builds better cars, you have to respect the direction that INFINITI is taking. They value their position in the market and they care what their customers think of their cars. These are a couple of reasons why we're proud to be an INFINITI dealer serving Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and Miami, Florida.

Both Models are Equipped With Many Safety Features

With a few new party tricks, the 2014 INFINITI Q50 takes one of the safest cars on the road and adds even more systems and safety conveniences. The biggest feature is the new run-flat tires that are standard - if you cut down a tire cruising around Lake Norman, you'll still be able to limp your INFINITI to our dealership for a new tire, or at least to a convenient place to stop for a tow.
