If the sight of an indicator or warning light on your Infiniti vehicle’s dashboard has you worried, don’t panic. First off, Infiniti vehicles are some of the safest and most technologically advanced cars and SUVs on the road. The purpose of these warning lights is to let you know about your vehicle’s many systems and their functioning. If one of them comes on during normal operation, it may be a message from your car’s diagnostic system that something needs to be checked out. In this case, bring it in to our service department here at Sawgrass Infiniti and we’ll have a look at it.

If you notice the indicator lights on the dashboard of your Infiniti when you start the ignition, you’ll see that most of them are illuminated for a short time before going out. But with all of those different lights and indicators, how do you know what your car is trying to tell you when one of them stays on?
Here’s a quick guide to each of the warning lights, and just what it is they’re indicating.

ABS – Anti-Lock Brake System

If the ABS warning light illuminates and stays on, it may indicate a problem with your car’s anti-lock braking system. The brakes should still function, but without the anti-lock assistance. Have this checked as soon as possible.

Engine Oil Pressure Light

This light warns of low engine oil pressure. The engine oil pressure warning light is not designed to indicate a low oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. Stop the engine immediately, and call Sawgrass Infiniti.

Brake Warning Light

If the Brake warning light comes on and stays on, it may indicate that your parking brake is still engaged. It could also mean that your brake fluid level is low and needs to be filled. Note: This is a serious warning and should be addressed immediately.

Malfuntion Indicator Light

If this indicator light comes on steady or blinks while the engine is running, it may indicate a potential emission control malfunction. The light may also come on steady if the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing. Contact Sawgrass Infiniti to have this checked out immediately.

Charge Warning Light

This warning light indicates a potential problem with your car’s charging system. If this light comes on and stays on, it could indicate a drain on the battery that may soon render your vehicle inoperable. Have this condition checked immediately.

Tire Pressure Warning Light

Most newer Infiniti vehicles are equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). When illuminated, this indicator warns of low pressure in one or more of your vehicle’s tires. More information may appear in your vehicle information display, such as “Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” or “Flat Tire – Visit Dealer”

Master Warning Light

The master warning light is used to notify you of a potential problem with one or more of your vehicle’s advanced systems. It will be accompanied by a message in your car’s vehicle information display with a more detailed system message.

Power Steering Warning Light

This indicator light is used on Infiniti vehicles that are equipped with Direct Adaptive Steering. If this warning light comes on and stays on, bring your Infiniti vehicle into our service center to have it checked.

Low Windshield-Washer Fluid Light

This light comes on when the windshield-washer fluid is at a low level.

Seat Belt Warning Light

If this warning light comes on it indicates that the driver or passenger seatbelt is not fastened. It will be accompanied by a chime that reminds everyone to buckle up.

Supplemental Air Bag Warning Light

If this indicator light comes on, or if it flashes intermittently, bring you vehicle in to our service center for repair. It may indicate that either the air bags or the seatbelt pre-tensioners are not operating correctly.

Vehicle Dynamic Control

When the VDC system is operating correctly, this light may flash when the system is engaged. If the VDC light illuminates and stays on, it may indicate a problem with the system. In this case, bring your vehicle in for servicing.

Security Indicator Light

This light blinks whenever the ignition switch is in the LOCK, OFF or ACC position. This function indicates the security system equipped on the vehicle is operational. Refer to your manual for more information.
